A Way to Prepare for High School

Question: My daughter will be attending high school in the fall. She has done all right in middle school. However, she would like to get a leg up on her high-school classes. Are there any books and/or study aids for students about to enter high school? She is definitely a self-starter and would be able to handle the work without any help from me. -- Self-Starter

Answer: It's great to see that there are children who are truly interested in preparing for high school. Here's a suggestion: Have your daughter go to the high-school bookstore and see if she can check out books for classes that are most likely to be difficult for her. She should then start working on the first lessons in the book. If she keeps this up for a great part of the summer, she will feel quite confident in some of her classes because the material will be familiar.

If the actual high-school books are not available, she can probably find equivalent online classes.
