How to Have a Good Conference

Question: My first ever conference is coming up soon. Do you have any basic rules that will help me have a good conference? I am so anxious to hear how my child in kindergarten is doing. -- First Timer

Answer: Teachers do a lot of preparation for annual and bi-annual conferences with parents. Let them direct the agenda of the conference. Before the conference, do talk with your child to find out if he or she has any concerns that you should address. Prepare for the conference by making a list of the questions that you would like answered. If there is time, bring them up if they have not been covered. If important issues have not been fully covered, do not hesitate to schedule an additional conference.

Above all else, arrive early for the conference and do not get off-track and engage in too much chit-chat.
